Obvara fired burnished pot

£90.00

Oh I love obvara firing! Obvara (or Baltic raku) is a surface pattern achieved through alternate firing of a pot which is heated to approximately 900 digrees celsius then dipped in a flour and yeast fermentation, The patternation achieved could be described as dendrinitic, very organic and impactful! The piece is then cleaned and polished with a microcrystalline wax, The surface is smooth because the piece has been hand burnished before firing. This piece is a large vessel for decoration, it can be used to display dried arrangements of flowers/bouquets, or a watertight vessel can be placed inside to house fresh cut flowers. (Raku fired pieces are porous!). This vessel is 18 cm tall and 14 cm wide at the neck.
